Founded in 1893 by John Duff & Company, production began at the Longmorn distillery in December 1894. Between 1972 and 1974. It doubled its production capacity from four to eight stills. Its highly renowned malt is reserved almost exclusively for the oldest editions of the famous Chivas blend. This expression beams with both maturity and impressive freshness and evokes the stunning, rolling landscapes of the Spey Valley. From honey and heady fragrances to tropical flavours and noble spices, over time the palette of flavours and aromas acquires an autumnal patina reminiscent of the poetic world of precious wood.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: rich, concentrated. Sublime fragrances of carnation, iris butter, heather honey, dried fruit (date, fig), noble spices (ginger) and notes of root and earth bring huge complexity to an aroma palette that at times flirts with peat.

Palate: full-bodied, well-rounded. The flavour palette reveals tropical fruits (pineapple, mango, guava), honey (geranium), very delicate wood and heady florals (lime blossom). With more powdery notes of cocoa, it then develops autumnal (chestnut, walnut) and herbaceous (blond tobacco) registers. Delicious red fruits (raspberry, strawberry) draw the palate out.

Finish: long, silky. A perfect summary of the nose and palate, the finish becomes continually richer, ending in divinely syrupy notes of raisin and wildflower honey. Curry and garam masala then softly coat the taste buds. The retro-nasal olfaction is sunny and mature and releases magnificent aromas of antique furniture.
