This is a new release from Highwayman bottled for Whisky Abbey 2024. For this whisky, Dan Woolley took his unpeated new make spirit and aged it in a combination of wet first fill PX and Oloroso casks. 

Tasting Notes

Super juicy grapes and raisins on the nose brought together by malty honey and light raisin seed. 

Palate explodes with a seemless combination of bright and dark sherry tones. More honey on the palate than on the nose with the freshness of the casks very evident. 

Finishes with Christmas pudding and light oak spice along with a final burst of fresh raisins. Very rounded and well integrated for 55%.  

Whisky Abbey

Whisky Abbey sets itself apart from other whisky shows in Australia by creating an experience similar to a farmers’ market, where attendees can meet the producers, buy directly from them, and take bottles home.

Attendees can purchase 15ml nips of whiskies for a very affordable price and even taste some rare whisky releases that are long gone from shop shelves and distillery doors. Top Australian bars also exhibit, showcasing special bottles that can be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to try. 

For 2024 the theme was "Nouveau Beginnings", with all whiskies bottled for the festival aiming to push boundaries with styles each distillery has not created before.
