Unlike many of its peers, the Bunnahabhain distillery produces two styles of single malt, one peated to between 35 and 45 ppm which makes up to 45% of annual production, and the other unpeated. This truly enchanting unpeated bottling selected for the 20^th anniversary or Whisky Live Paris was matured in an oloroso sherry cask and bottled at cask strength. The three close-knit stages of the tasting reveal a glimmering portrait of flavours and aromas in which every nook and cranny is chock-full of delicious treasures, including the empty glass, which is abound with spicy and medicinal notes.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: lively and creamy. With remarkable depth and elegance, the nose opens with very pure fragrances of malted barley. These cereal notes intermingle with sandalwood, roasted chestnut, hawthorn, red kuri squash, cocoa, bay leaf sauce and turmeric.

Palate: full-bodied, distinguished. Staying close to the nose, the flavour palette offers a wealth of irresistibly rich notes of coffee eclair, prune flan and mocha coffee. Wax, pipe tobacco and beeswax then appear alongside nuances of burnt sienna.

Finish: long, full. The finish is drawn out with a multitude of black and red fruits (strawberry, bramble, raspberry, blueberry). Revealing resin (pine, cedar) and roasted, oily notes (black olive), the flavour palette explores deeply herbaceous (malted barley, lucerne) and heady (iris butter) registers.
