Founded in 1879 by James Fleming, the Aberlour distillery closed its malting floors in 1962. After doubling its production capacity in 1973, it was then bought by Pernod Ricard in 1974. In 2022, Pernod Ricard announced an expansion project that included the installation of 16 washbacks, two wash stills and two spirit stills. With outstanding classicism, this oloroso cask bottling wonderfully embodies the Aberlour style. A subtle combination of freshness and maturity, the flavour and aroma palette is marked by abundantly fruity, divinely floral and invigoratingly woody sequences whose depth are equalled only by their radiance.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: rich, heady. Incense, dark chocolate, blood orange, mango, dried apricot, caraway, candied ginger, clove, hyacinth, geranium, lily, apple tart, Chelsea buns and walnut cake all appear in the incredibly complex aroma palette.

Palate: full-bodied, intense. The palate is silky and opens with deeply expressive flavours of candied citrus fruit (orange, lemon), Vosges bonbons, crème brûlée and strawberry jam. Over time, it takes on more tropical tones (mango, persimmon, guava).

Finish: long, concentrated. Lovely autumnal nuances now join the flavour palette, with zan liquorice sweets, pipe tobacco, bramble jam and other more tertiary notes (dried leaf, mushroom, lichen). Finally, butter caramel and a delicious mango coulis gradually coat the taste buds.
